Delhi Police arrested Indian Youth Congress (IYC) national president Uday Bhanu Chib after a dramatic protest at the AI Impact Summit in the national capital. The protest took place last week near the summit venue.

According to police officials, Youth Congress members staged a shirtless demonstration to oppose government policies and draw attention to youth-related issues. The protesters gathered close to the event site. They raised slogans and attempted to march toward the venue. However, security personnel stopped them at the barricades.

Soon after, police detained several workers at the spot. Later, officers registered a case and began identifying key organizers. As the probe moved forward, police named Uday Bhanu Chib as one of the main coordinators of the protest. Consequently, officers arrested him in connection with the demonstration.

Police said the protest disrupted movement in the high-security zone. Authorities had already tightened security due to the presence of senior officials and international delegates at the AI Summit. Therefore, police treated the protest as a breach of law and order arrangements.

Meanwhile, Youth Congress leaders defended their action. They claimed they organized the protest to highlight unemployment and concerns about opportunities for young people. Party members argued that they chose symbolic shirtless protest to send a strong message.

On the other hand, police maintained that protesters did not seek proper permission for the demonstration at that location. Officers stated that they will follow due legal process in the matter.

The arrest has sparked political reactions. Supporters of the Youth Congress criticized the move and called it excessive. However, police officials said they acted according to established rules.

Further investigation continues as authorities examine video footage and statements linked to the protest.
