NIA Steps Up Kashmir Crackdown With Fresh Raids in Terror Conspiracy Probe
The National Investigation Agency has intensified its crackdown in Kashmir. On Monday, the agency carried out fresh raids across multiple districts of the Valley. The action forms part of an ongoing terror conspiracy investigation.
First, NIA teams moved into Srinagar. Then, they expanded operations to Baramulla and Bandipora. Jammu and Kashmir Police joined the searches. The Central Reserve Police Force also provided support. Together, the teams targeted several residential locations.
Sources said the raids focused on people under scrutiny for alleged terror links. These included an individual linked to Jamaat-e-Islami. The list also included a government employee. Investigators also searched the home of a former militant. Officials believe these individuals may have connections to larger terror networks.
This operation did not come out of the blue. Instead, it followed earlier NIA action in December. At that time, the agency conducted coordinated raids in Kashmir and Lucknow. Those searches linked directly to the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort in November.
The November 10 blast shook the country. The explosion killed 13 people. It injured at least 32 others. Soon after, investigators traced the attack to a terror module with roots in Jammu and Kashmir. The NIA took charge of the probe to uncover the full conspiracy.
In December, NIA teams searched eight locations in Kashmir. They covered Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama, and Awantipora. At the same time, another team searched a site in Lucknow. Investigators focused on premises tied to suspects arrested in the blast case.
During those earlier searches, the agency recovered key evidence. Officials seized digital devices. They also collected documents and other material of interest. The NIA said the seized items could help map the terror network and identify handlers and financiers.
Monday’s raids appear to build on that momentum. Investigators now aim to trace deeper local links. They also want to examine possible support systems within the Valley. Sources said the agency continues to analyze financial trails, communication records, and personal contacts.
So far, the NIA has not confirmed any arrests from Monday’s operation. Officials have also not issued a formal statement on seizures. However, sources indicated that investigators questioned several individuals during the searches.
The presence of a government employee among those raided has drawn attention. Investigators often view such cases seriously. They examine whether official positions helped extremist networks operate quietly. The agency also keeps a close watch on former militants who may have reconnected with underground groups.
Meanwhile, security agencies remain on high alert across Kashmir. Intelligence inputs continue to flag attempts by terror outfits to regroup. Authorities believe sustained pressure remains crucial to disrupt these efforts.
Over the past year, the NIA has increased its footprint in the Valley. It has taken up cases involving terror funding, sleeper cells, and cross-border conspiracies. Officials say each raid aims to break another link in the chain.
As the probe continues, more action may follow. Investigators expect fresh leads from the material already seized. They also plan further questioning based on digital evidence.
For now, Monday’s raids signal a clear message. The NIA plans to pursue every lead. It aims to dismantle terror networks piece by piece. And it intends to keep the focus firmly on accountability and national security.
