Anti-Terror Operation Begins in Kishtwar as Forces Hunt Jaish Militants

Security forces launched a major anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Thursday. The move followed fresh intelligence inputs about the presence of Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists in the region. Soon after, authorities suspended internet services as a precautionary step.

According to officials, joint teams of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and paramilitary forces moved into action early in the day. They focused on the Chatroo area, which has remained sensitive due to past militant activity. The forces aimed to prevent terrorist movement and ensure civilian safety.

Meanwhile, security teams cordoned off multiple villages. They carried out intensive searches in Singpura, Arigam Dwathar, and Naidgam. Troops scanned forest patches and residential pockets. They also checked suspected hideouts and movement routes.

So far, forces have not established direct contact with the terrorists. However, officers said the operation remains active. Search teams continue to move cautiously from one location to another. They aim to avoid civilian harm while maintaining pressure on suspected militants.

In the background, Kishtwar has seen repeated anti-terror actions over the years. Dense forests and difficult terrain often provide cover to militants. As a result, security agencies rely on coordinated ground operations and local intelligence to track movement.

At the same time, the administration suspended internet services across parts of Kishtwar. Officials said the step would curb the spread of rumours and block communication channels that terrorists could exploit. Authorities also appealed to residents to stay calm and cooperate with security forces.

Additionally, police increased patrolling on key roads. They set up checkpoints to monitor movement. Security teams also reviewed inputs from recent interceptions and ground reports.

Senior officials said forces will continue the operation until they clear the entire area. They stressed that public safety remains the top priority. They also said troops will respond firmly if militants open fire.
