Army pays tribute to Kargil martyrs at Jammu
Jammu, July 26 (HS): On the 20th anniversary of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’, army, veterans and school children paid rich tributes to martyrs at Balidan Stambh Jammu today.
The wreaths were laid by Brig TK Chopra, Deputy General Officer Commanding, Tiger Division at the eternal flame of war memorial. A guard of honour was also presented during the wreath laying ceremony.
“We celebrated 20th anniversary by organising various programmes in schools, colleges and other civil areas to aware people how Indian forces fought Kargil war,” a defence spokesperson said.
“Kargil war fought in Dras, Kaksar, Batalik and Turtuk sectors for over two months and this war is a testimony of the Indian Army’s grit and determination, wherein the Indian Army soldiers exhibited dauntless courage, resilience, valour and fought against all odds in bone chilling and blood freezing temperatures of the high altitude mountains in Kargil,” a defence spokesperson said
