Dharmendra discharged from Mumbai hospital, family slams fake death reports
Mumbai – Veteran actor Dharmendra, 89, left Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday morning after doctors allowed his family to continue his treatment at home. The actor had been admitted a few days earlier for medical tests. Neither the hospital nor the family revealed details about his condition.
On Tuesday, false reports of Dharmendra’s death flooded social media. His family swiftly denied the rumours and urged everyone to respect their privacy. Daughter Esha Deol shared on Instagram, “The media is spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. Please give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery.”
Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife and veteran actor-politician, expressed anger over the irresponsible coverage. Posting on X, she wrote, “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible media spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment? This is disrespectful and irresponsible. Please allow our family privacy.”
As news of his hospitalisation spread, several Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan, visited Dharmendra to wish him a quick recovery. Hospital sources confirmed that he is stable and under medical supervision at his home.
Dharmendra, fondly called the “He-Man of Bollywood,” remains one of Indian cinema’s most beloved stars. With a career spanning over six decades, he has acted in more than 300 films. His powerful screen presence and versatility made him a household name during Hindi cinema’s golden era.
His memorable performances include Phool Aur Patthar, Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Jugnu, Raja Jani, Pratiggya, and Dost. Fans continue to admire his unmatched charm, natural acting, and strong chemistry with co-stars like Hema Malini.
Even at 89, Dharmendra remains active in films. In 2023, he appeared in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, alongside Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The film explored a modern love story between two contrasting families and earned praise for Dharmendra’s emotional performance.
Known for his humility and simplicity off-screen, Dharmendra often shares emotional messages for fans, expressing gratitude for their lifelong support. His sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol, both successful actors, have often spoken about their father’s discipline, passion, and inspiring work ethic.
As the veteran star continues treatment at home, fans across the country are sending prayers for his recovery. Bollywood colleagues and politicians have also extended good wishes.
Dharmendra’s legacy continues to define Indian cinema — from his action-packed roles in the 70s to his affectionate on-screen presence in family dramas. His strength and grace in real life mirror the spirit of his characters, earning him enduring love from generations of audiences.
