Delhi UPSC Aspirant Murder: Girlfriend, Ex-Boyfriend, and Friend Planned Fire Killing Over Private Videos
New Delhi– Delhi Police have exposed a shocking murder conspiracy three weeks after finding the charred body of a 32-year-old UPSC aspirant in Timarpur. Investigators found that the victim’s live-in partner, her ex-boyfriend, and a mutual friend plotted the killing with precision.
Fire and Discovery
On October 6, firefighters rushed to a fourth-floor flat in Gandhi Vihar after receiving a fire alert. After dousing the flames, they discovered a completely burnt body. Police later identified the victim as Ram Kesh Meena, a civil services aspirant from Rajasthan, who lived with his girlfriend Amrita Chauhan (21).
Ram Kesh’s family questioned the circumstances of his death. Police began checking CCTV footage and spotted two masked men entering the building the night before the blaze. Later, one man exited alone, followed by a man and a woman. Investigators identified the woman as Amrita. The fire broke out shortly after she left.
Amrita’s phone location confirmed her presence near the flat. Police grew suspicious and added murder charges to the case.
The Arrests
Amrita went into hiding after the incident. Police tracked her down on October 18. During questioning, she revealed the names of two accomplices — her ex-boyfriend, Sumit Kashyap, and their friend, Sandeep Kumar. Officers arrested Sumit on October 21 and Sandeep on October 23.
The Motive
Amrita met Ram Kesh in May and soon moved in with him. During their relationship, Ram Kesh allegedly recorded private videos of her and stored them on a hard disk. When she asked him to delete the files, he refused. Upset and fearful, Amrita confided in her ex-boyfriend, Sumit.
Sumit grew angry and decided to kill Ram Kesh. Together, they planned to make it look like an accident caused by a gas explosion. Sumit, who worked in LPG cylinder distribution, used his technical knowledge to plan the fire. Amrita, a forensic science student fascinated by crime shows, helped design the plan. They then involved Sandeep Kumar, a 29-year-old mutual friend.
The Murder
On the night of October 5, Sumit and Sandeep entered the flat. They beat Ram Kesh and strangled him to death. After confirming his death, they poured oil, ghee, and wine on his body to make the fire intense. Sumit brought a gas cylinder from the kitchen, placed it near the victim’s head, and turned the knob.
Before leaving, they stole his laptops, hard disk, and other valuables. Sumit ignited the fire with a lighter and locked the door. About an hour later, the gas exploded, engulfing the flat in flames.
The Slip-Up
The trio believed they had erased all evidence. However, CCTV cameras captured their movements. Police retrieved the footage and connected the dots. Investigators later recovered the stolen hard disk, phones, and other items from the accused.
Officials said the planning was meticulous but technology exposed the truth. All three accused remain in custody as Delhi Police prepare to file the chargesheet.
