Guterres offers UN help to India to deal with floods devastation

New York/New Delhi, July 16 (HS): United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has proposed to help India and other flood-affected countries in the region.

Guterres’ Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq said that the United Nations is ready to provide assistance in the affected areas with the help of officers. Guterres has expressed grief over the loss of people, loss of property.

Spokesperson Farhan Haq said, ”Guterres is saddened by the loss of life, displacement of people and destruction of property due to the heavy monsoonal rains and associated flooding across South and South-East Asia, most notably in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Myanmar. He express his condolences and solidarity to the families of the victims, to the governments and people of the affected countries and wishes those injured a speedy recovery”.
