CM Nitish, having no care for flood victims: Rabri Devi
Patna, July. 16 (HS): Unimpressed with the announcements by Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar for the flood victims, former CM and leader of opposition in Bihar legislative Council Rabri Devi lashed out at the government for taking “no care” of the affected people and not even providing them food.
Holding placards denouncing the government, she along with legislators of her RJD and Congress demonstrated outside the Council and demanded that Nitish instead of making aerial surveys should do some positive works to provide relief to the victims.
“Why don’t the CM drops food packets from helicopter while flying over the marooned areas where people are facing plenty of problems? What arrangements the government has made for the hapless people?” she asked tersely.
She alleged that the families which lost members in floods have not received compensation. Even the basic things like food, drinking water, polythene sheets, kerosene etc have not been provided to them, she alleged.
Referring to media reports that in some areas flood victims were forced to eat rats, the former CM said, “In a situation when they are getting no relief what they will eat. They have only rats and fish to eat to save their lives.
Reacting to CM’s statement in both houses of the state legislature on Tuesday, she said, “Everything is on paper but some people must be making profits in the name of relief work. It is raining and homeless people are compelled to live under the sky,” she alleged.
