Vigilance nabs 13 officials, 2 private persons in 12 bribery cases
Chandigarh, July. 8 (H.S.): State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing crusade against corruption, has nabbed 13 employees and 2 private person red handed while accepting bribes in 12 different trap cases during the month of June, which includes 5 police personnel, 4 employees of power department and 4 from other departments.
Disclosing this, Chief Director-cum-ADGP vigilance bureau Punjab B.K. Uppal said the VB had put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption among public servants and others in every sphere during the period. In this direction, the vigilance officers have ensured that suspect did not escape judicial punishment in the various courts in the State, he added.
He said that the Bureau had submitted chargesheets pertaining to 05 vigilance cases in various special courts during last month. In addition to this the VB has registered two vigilance cases against public servants after thorough investigation of vigilance inquiries. Three vigilance inquiries have also been registered to probe the allegation, he added
Similarly, in another case, Surinder Singh Assistant Executive Engineer, posted at PSPCL Moga and his private driver Jaswinder Singh have been convicted and sentenced with 4 years imprisonment and fine of Rs. 5,000/- each by the Additional Session Judge, Moga.
