DDC Rajouri kickstarts ₹4.78 Cr project for double-lanning of Abdullah Bridge `
Rajouri, July 03 (HS): Meeting a long pending demand of people of Rajouri, government authorities have started the work for double laning of existing Abdullah bridge lane connecting Gujjar Mandi with old bus stand of Rajouri town.
The work was kickstarted by District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad in presence of officers of Public Works Department.
Officers from PWD briefed DDC Rajouri that prerequisite for the project have been completed which include soil testing that has been done by a team of engineers headed by Assistant Engineer Mohammad Sarwar and Junior Engineer Mohammad Shamim. He was also informed that work for 120 metres long double lane specification of bridge is to be completed within one year period at an estimated cost of 4.78 crores.
District Development Commissioner asked the engineers to ensure that work is completed by or before 31st March, 2020.
He also said that double lane bridge at the said location was immediate need of the hour and a proposal in this regard was formulated and submitted to state administration by district administration and the same received nod under languishing projects.
He also said that double lane specification bridge will bring to an end the problem of traffic congestion in the Town especially Gujjar Mandi area and will remove major bottleneck for the commuters.
