Betting racket busted, police apprehends two accused
Hyderabad (Telangana), July 1 (HS): Police have a busted a racket and apprehended two persons involved in betting for cricket matches being played in the World Cup Tournament in UK.
Apprehended persons have been identified as Prem Singh and Akash Singh. They were apprehended while accepting cricket betting at premises, Muchkunda Nagar, Rahimpura, Mangalhat, Hyderabad from the known and unknown punters directly and indirectly over cell phones.
Police have seized laptop, calculator, cell phones, and copies which were used to write cricket betting amounts, and net cash of Rs. 35,000 from their possession.
The accused persons are native of Hyderabad. They hatched a plan to collect the betting amounts directly and indirectly through cell phones from the punters in Hyderabad. From the past one year the accused Prem Singh is organizing cricket betting and the accused Akash Singh is working with him. They are collecting and distributing the amounts of betting from nearly 15 to 20 punters in twin cities.
On credible information police raided and apprehended the persons when they were running betting and watching ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup-2019 Cricket match between Pakistan Vs Afghanistan.
The apprehended persons along with seized property were handed over to the Mangalhat Police station, Hyderabad for further action.
