On Tuesday morning, the Indian Army’s Rising Star Corps, along with Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF, launched a search and destroy operation in Kathua’s Panjtirthi area. They acted on intelligence reports about potential terrorist activity. This operation followed a recent gunfight in Kathua, where two terrorists and four policemen were killed. Several others, including a deputy superintendent of police, were injured in that clash.

On Monday night, police noticed suspicious movement in the Panjtirthi area. This led to a brief exchange of fire between the police and terrorists. The Rising Star Corps of the Indian Army confirmed that the operation began the following morning, and operations were still underway as of this report.

Officials suspect that three Jaish terrorists are trapped near the Panjtirthi temple in Kathua’s Billawar area. The operation is continuing as long as there are any terrorists left. Deputy Inspector General Shiv Kumar Sharma vowed to neutralize all threats. He urged the local community to report any suspicious activity. Speaking in Reasi, he assured the public, “Our force is dedicated to eradicating terrorism and ensuring Jammu and Kashmir’s safety.” Sharma expressed sorrow over the death of a jawan during the encounter but emphasized that the training and morale of the forces remain strong.

The forces intensified their search with aerial surveillance and sniffer dogs. Meanwhile, six people were detained after reports of suspected movement by three individuals believed to be terrorists who had escaped the previous encounter.

Sharma also visited the family of the fallen soldier and expressed his condolences. “These brave personnel sacrificed their lives for a secure Jammu and Kashmir,” he said. “The police will never step back from its duty.” He assured the public that the forces’ morale remains high, and they are prepared to face any challenge in their mission. “We will continue to fight for the safety of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and never back down.”
