Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi is rising fast in Indian tennis. She recently began training at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Manacor, Mallorca. Her talent caught the eye of Rafael Nadal himself, who attended one of her training sessions.

The Academy’s official Instagram shared photos of Nadal watching Maaya closely. They captioned the post, “A very special spectator. @rafaelnadal didn’t miss any detail of @maayarajesh.09’s training.” Nadal later reacted to the post with an eyes emoji, showing his interest in the 15-year-old prodigy.

Maaya, from Coimbatore, made headlines at the WTA 125 event in Mumbai. She entered with a wildcard and stunned everyone by reaching the semifinals. Her strong run included victories over experienced players before losing to Swiss star Jil Teichmann, the eventual champion.

Nadal, who retired from professional tennis last year, now spends more time mentoring young players at his academy. Maaya secured a full scholarship to train there for a year, a testament to the academy’s faith in her game.

With her WTA ranking set to enter the top 700, Maaya aims to compete in junior Grand Slams and women’s ITF events. Speaking to wtatennis.com, she said, “I’ll be playing junior Slams for the first time. But since I’ll be in the top 700, I’ll also enter women’s ITFs. I’m transitioning faster than expected.”

Her journey is just beginning, but with Nadal’s academy backing her, Maaya is poised for a breakthrough on the global stage.
