The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season will begin on March 21, announced BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla on Sunday. He revealed the news after the BCCI’s special general meeting in Mumbai. While the league’s start date is set, the playoffs and final schedules remain undecided.
Rajiv Shukla also confirmed the appointment of a new IPL commissioner for a one-year term. The BCCI plans to finalize the Indian team for the upcoming Champions Trophy during its next meeting on January 18-19. This decision will address critical preparations for the international tournament.
Newly elected BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia highlighted the challenges of managing IPL 2025. He noted that the packed schedule demands careful planning and seamless coordination. The board is actively working on strategies to ensure smooth execution.
During the meeting, Devjit Saikia and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia were unanimously elected as BCCI’s secretary and treasurer. Both ran unopposed after Jay Shah and Ashish Shelar filed nominations for the vacant roles. Their unopposed election reflects strong support from the board members.
