Marketing of Potato should be ensured to benefit farmers: Chief Secretary
Lucknow, June (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Dr. Anup Chandra Pandey has directed that to benefit the Potato producing farmers of the state, arrangement of marketing should be ensured through ‘Buyers-Seller Meet’ in the other consuming areas of the country along with the state so that potato farmers can get more earning from other state also.
He said transport freight subsidy of Rs. 50 at per Quintal should be given to the farmers at distance of 150 Kilo meters and Businessman to be given at 300 kilo meters respectively. Proper arrangement should be made to make this subsidy available by upcoming 30th September, he added.
Chief Secretary was presiding over a meeting to benefit the Potato growing farmers with the concerned departmental officers here in his office meeting hall in Lok Bhavan. He said that the proposal to create long term program for the benefit of Potato growing farmers in the state should be forwarded as soon as possible.
Dr. Pandey has also instructed that an effective measures should be taken to benefit the farmers by announcing the date of ‘Buyers-Seller Meet’ program at Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and other major locations. He also said that a comprehensive action plan should also be made for the consumption of Potato in various schemes in the state so that the Potato growing farmers can get maximum sale.
