BSF Organizes International Day against Drug

Shillong, jun 26 (HS): The Border Security Force, Frontier Headquarter Meghalaya celebrated  the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June’2019 with great enthusiasm, as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of a society, free of drug abuse. The theme for the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking-2019 is “Health for Justice, Justice for Health”.

The BSF is determined to fight against the menace of drugs and in this connection organized a huge rally on 26th  June comprising of more than 600 personnel in uniform including students of BSF Senior Secondary School as well as Primary School, Umpling, in 3.5 kms stretch in areas of Nongmynsong and Polo, Golf Link as parts of its initiative to spread awareness to the society against drug abuse. Before flag off of the rally, U K Nayal, Deputy Inspector General/PRO, BSF Meghalaya appealed to all local populace to fight against Drug abuse and emphasized on the hazards of drug addiction and illicit trafficking, while stressing on the theme of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking-2019.

He also appealed to all BSF personnel’s, local populace as well as media persons to motivate and guide drug addicts rather than secluding than from the society.

Similar other programme under the supervision of Ftr HQ were observed by BSF Senior Secondary School, Umpling by performing Rally in local Nongmengsong Area and also participating in Debate Competition Slogan Writing and skits on  Drug abuse.

Besides, above, programmes on the subject also conducted in the all BOPs along the borders where both  BSF personnel and Civilians including children holding commemorative posters/banners displaying Motto Anti-Drug Day took part to publicly mark 26th June as International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit trafficking. This initiative taken by the Border Security Force of Meghalaya FTR was highly appreciated by the local populace and Administration.
