Gurdaspur grenade attack: 3 Khalistan zindabad force members killed in Pilibhit encounter
Three suspects linked to the grenade attack on a police checkpoint in Gurdaspur, Punjab, were killed in an encounter in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. The accused were identified as Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh alias Ravi (23), and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18), all residents of Gurdaspur.
The encounter took place in the Puranpur area of Pilibhit district, where the suspects were cornered by joint teams from Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. According to Amitabh Yash, Director General (Law and Order) of Uttar Pradesh Police, the trio had carried out the grenade attack in Gurdaspur before the encounter.
During the exchange of fire, the suspects sustained serious injuries and were rushed to CHC Puranpur for treatment but succumbed to their wounds.
Recovered from the suspects were two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and a large cache of ammunition, revealing the extent of their involvement in violent activities. Yash confirmed that the situation was now under control, and legal proceedings are underway.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav described the encounter as a significant breakthrough against a Pakistan-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror module. He explained that the group had been involved in grenade attacks targeting police establishments in Punjab’s border areas.
Yadav stated that the encounter was the result of a joint operation between the Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police, highlighting the continued efforts to dismantle such terror networks. He confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the KZF’s activities.
The operation has dealt a significant blow to the Khalistan Zindabad Force’s operations in the region. Authorities are now focused on expanding their probe to dismantle the larger terror module behind the recent attacks.
