A senior White House official revealed on December 19, 2024, that Pakistan is developing long-range ballistic missiles with the potential to strike beyond South Asia, including the United States.

Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer made this statement during a speech at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He expressed concerns over Pakistan’s missile program, calling it an emerging threat to the U.S.

Finer noted that Pakistan has advanced its missile technology significantly, including long-range systems and equipment for larger rocket motors. He stressed that if these trends continue, Pakistan could soon have the capability to target locations well beyond South Asia.

Finer’s remarks followed a day after the U.S. imposed new sanctions on Pakistan’s ballistic missile development program. These sanctions targeted the state-run defense agency overseeing the program.

Finer’s comments reflect the growing concerns within the U.S. government about Pakistan’s expanding missile capabilities and the implications for global security.
