India found themselves struggling on the third day of the Brisbane Test, with rain interrupting play and reducing it to just 30.2 overs. At the Tea break, India were 48 for 4 in response to Australia’s first-innings total of 445.

The weather disrupted the flow of the game, making it difficult for India’s batters to settle. Australia’s seamers, including Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins, were able to make use of the higher release points on the Gabba pitch, creating more challenges for India’s batsmen. This, combined with poor shot selection, added to India’s woes.

Yashasvi Jaiswal fell early, flicking a Starc delivery straight to square leg. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli both went for expansive drives without finding balance. Gill was caught at gully off Starc, while Kohli fell to a loose drive off Hazlewood.

Rain returned soon after the start of the second session, and India lost Rishabh Pant after another rain delay. Pant poked at a Cummins delivery outside off stump. KL Rahul, however, played solidly, reaching 30* despite a painful blow to his left wrist early on.

Earlier, Australia had added 40 runs to their overnight score of 405 before India took the final three wickets. Alex Carey reached a half-century, sweeping Ravindra Jadeja for a boundary. Starc then hit a six and a four before nicking off against Jasprit Bumrah, who took his sixth wicket of the innings. This milestone took Bumrah’s total to 50 wickets in Australia, joining Kapil Dev as the only Indians to achieve the feat.

The rain delays continued, with Australia happy to take their time and build a large total. India managed to break Australia’s resistance as Mohammed Siraj bowled a full delivery to dismiss Nathan Lyon. Akash Deep then claimed the wicket of Carey, caught at deep mid-wicket for 70, leaving Australia at 445 all out after 29.5 overs of batting.
