Delhi Police tightens security at Bangladesh High Commission
After protesters stormed the Bangladesh consulate in Agartala, Delhi Police boosted security around the Bangladesh High Commission in Chanakyapuri. Officials deployed extra personnel and enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which prohibits gatherings of five or more people in central Delhi during Parliament’s winter session.
The Agartala protests on Monday drew thousands, opposing the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das and attacks on Bangladesh’s Hindu community. Demonstrators reportedly entered the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh and vandalized property.
The Ministry of External Affairs called the incident “deeply regrettable,” urging calm. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi is preparing a formal protest over the Agartala breach.
These steps aim to prevent further unrest and safeguard diplomatic missions amidst rising tensions.
