Winter Parliament: Bills passed, acts amended, Sitharaman leads Finance push

The Winter Session of Parliament begins Monday, focusing on critical legislation. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will spearhead financial reforms by moving several key Bills. Among them is the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, which proposes changes to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, and the Banking Regulation Act.

Furthermore, Sitharaman will push for amendments to the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Acts of 1970 and 1980. These changes aim to enhance governance and efficiency in public sector banks. Meanwhile, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw plans to introduce the Railways (Amendment) Bill, targeting updates to the Railway Act, 1989.

In parallel, Minister of State for Skill Development Jayant Chaudhary will present a progress report on the SANKALP project. This initiative focuses on skill acquisition and livelihood enhancement to boost employment. Additionally, BJP MPs Rodmal Nagar and Ganesh Singh will propose associating a Rajya Sabha member with welfare committees for Scheduled Castes and Tribes.

This session holds significance for the government, offering a platform to address pressing legislative priorities. Transitioning smoothly between discussions, leaders aim to ensure these reforms strengthen institutions and foster inclusive growth.
