Canada denies Linking Modi, Jaishankar, Doval to Canadian crime
Canada denied linking Indian PM Narendra Modi, S Jaishankar, and NSA Ajit Doval to criminal activities in Canada. Nathalie G. Drouin, Canada’s national security advisor, clarified there is no evidence connecting the three leaders to serious crimes in Canada.
The statement followed allegations made public by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on October 14 about Indian agents’ involvement in criminal activities.
India dismissed a Globe and Mail report suggesting a connection between Modi, Jaishankar, Doval, and the death of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, an NIA-designated terrorist. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) criticized the claims as baseless and damaging to already strained relations. India reiterated its concerns about extremism and anti-India activities in Canada, urging action against these elements.
Earlier, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau alleged credible evidence linking India to Nijjar’s killing in 2022. India called the accusations “absurd and motivated,” accusing Canada of harboring extremist groups. Tensions between the nations remain high as they exchange allegations over the Nijjar case.
