Markets expected to open under pressure

The domestic stock market faced selling pressure early Thursday, with mixed opening trends. Sensex began with a 132.73-point gain at 77,711.11, while Nifty opened lower by 30.05 points at 23,488.45. However, selling pressure quickly pulled both indices into the red.

Within 30 minutes, the Sensex dipped to 76,802.73, losing all early gains. Buyers attempted to counter the trend, leading to a slight recovery. By 10:15 AM, the Sensex traded at 76,984.37, down 594.01 points or 0.77%. Similarly, Nifty hit a low of 23,263.15 before improving slightly to 23,310.55, marking a 207.95-point drop or 0.88%.

Stock-wise, major gainers in early trade included Infosys, Hindalco, Wipro, Trent, and TCS, rising between 0.61% and 0.73%. On the downside, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, SBI, IndusInd Bank, and Bharat Electronics saw sharp declines of up to 2.73%.

Active trading occurred in 2,343 stocks, with 526 gaining and 1,817 losing. In the Sensex, 9 stocks traded in the green, while 21 faced selling pressure. Similarly, in the Nifty, 10 stocks gained, while 40 traded in the red.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the Sensex ended at 77,578.38, up by 239.37 points (0.31%), and Nifty closed at 23,518.50, rising 64.70 points (0.28%). Despite these gains, today’s session highlights the market’s ongoing volatility.
