Voting for 38 constituencies in Jharkhand’s final Assembly election phase began Wednesday under tight security. Authorities set up 14,218 polling stations, deploying 585 paramilitary companies, 60 Jharkhand Armed Police units, and 30,000 district personnel to ensure a smooth process. Webcasting and cameras are monitoring polling centers closely.

This phase covers three divisions: Santhal Pargana, North Chotanagpur, and South Chotanagpur. A total of 528 candidates are contesting for the votes of 1.23 crore registered voters. Mandu in Hazaribagh is the largest constituency, while Jharia in Dhanbad is the smallest. Bokaro boasts the highest voter count with 5.82 lakh voters, whereas Littipara has the lowest with 2.17 lakh.

The Barhait constituency draws the most attention as Chief Minister Hemant Soren represents JMM here. Key candidates include BJP state president Babulal Marandi in Dhanwar, Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato from Nala, and Congress leaders Deepika Pandey Singh in Mahagama and Irfan Ansari in Jamtara. Other notable contenders include AJSU Party chief Sudesh Mahto from Silli and Kalpana Soren from Gandey.

This decisive phase will shape Jharkhand’s political landscape and determine the fate of prominent leaders.
