Trump Taps Tulsi gabbard as new Director of national intelligence
President-elect Donald Trump has selected former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as his director of national intelligence. Gabbard, a veteran who served in Iraq, represented Hawaii in Congress for four terms and ran for president in 2020. In 2022, she left the Democratic Party and endorsed Trump.
Trump praised Gabbard for her service to the country and commitment to protecting American freedoms. He highlighted her broad support across party lines and her “fearless spirit.” He expressed confidence that Gabbard would bring her experience to the intelligence community, emphasizing constitutional rights and national security.
Gabbard has recently expressed her willingness to serve in Trump’s administration, stating she would be honored to help prevent global conflicts, including nuclear war. She also endorsed Trump in August, criticizing the Biden administration for escalating global tensions and pushing the world closer to nuclear war.
She voiced strong support for Trump’s leadership, believing he would work to de-escalate international conflicts.
Though initially considered as a potential vice-presidential pick, Gabbard played a role in Trump’s 2024 campaign, helping prepare him for the presidential debates and moderating a campaign event in Wisconsin.
Now, as director of national intelligence, Gabbard is set to bring her unique political journey and military background to a key role in Trump’s administration.
