A recent death threat against Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan was traced to a phone reportedly owned by Raipur-based lawyer Faizan Khan, Mumbai police announced on Thursday. The threat caller demanded ₹50 lakh from Khan, warning of fatal consequences if the money wasn’t paid. The call, made on Tuesday via Bandra Police’s landline, led Mumbai Police to track the origin to Raipur, prompting a team to visit the city for further investigation. Mumbai Police are now collaborating with Raipur authorities to identify the actual caller.

Faizan Khan, however, stated that his phone was stolen on November 2, three days before the threat call. He claimed he filed a First Information Report (FIR) with Raipur police about the stolen phone. “My phone was stolen, and I reported it immediately. I informed Mumbai police and was interrogated for two hours,” he shared. Khan suspects foul play, adding, “Whoever used my phone might have done this intentionally. I believe this is a conspiracy against me.”

Notably, Faizan Khan previously lodged a complaint against Shah Rukh Khan over a dialogue in the actor’s 1994 film Anjaam, referencing deer hunting. Being from Rajasthan and a friend of the Bishnoi community—known for its religious protection of deer—Khan had objected to the dialogue, claiming it insulted his community.

This incident comes amid heightened concerns in Bollywood, as Shah Rukh Khan’s colleague, Salman Khan, also faced similar threats earlier this year. After the Lawrence Bishnoi gang issued threats against Salman, authorities granted him Y-plus security, providing armed guards at his home round the clock.

The investigation now hinges on verifying Khan’s claim and determining if a third party used his device. This situation highlights the growing security challenges for Bollywood celebrities and the complex motives behind recent threats. Mumbai and Raipur police are actively working to uncover the source of the call and ensure the actor’s safety.
