On Wednesday morning, an encounter broke out in Kupwara’s Margi, Lolab area between security forces and terrorists. Based on specific intelligence about terrorist activity, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the area. The firefight ensued after contact was made, and the operation continues.

In another operation, security forces eliminated one terrorist in Bandipora during Operation Kaitsan. This operation, which started earlier this week, was launched after intelligence revealed terrorist activity in the Chuntawadi Kaitsan forest area. A joint effort by the Indian Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, and CRPF led to the ongoing encounter.

Meanwhile, Jammu & Kashmir police, along with CRPF, arrested a terrorist associate, Ashiq Hussain Wani, in Sopore. He was allegedly involved in terror activities.

This series of operations follows a string of recent violent incidents. On November 3, a grenade attack at a tourist center and weekly market in Srinagar left 12 injured. Additionally, on November 2, two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Anantnag, and in late October, security forces neutralized three terrorists in Akhnoor following an Army convoy attack. Earlier in October, a terrorist attack at a construction site in Ganderbal claimed the lives of a doctor and six workers.

The ongoing operations highlight the continuing security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, with security forces working to neutralize terrorist threats across the region.
