Lawrence Bishnoi named National President of All India Jeev Raksha Bishnoi Sabha’s Youth Wing
Lawrence Bishnoi, currently jailed on charges of murder, extortion, and robbery, has been appointed National President of the Youth Front Wing of the All India Jeev Raksha Bishnoi Sabha. Despite multiple investigations against him by agencies like the NIA, Bishnoi was nominated to the post last week in a meeting held at the Bishnoi Temple in Abohar, Punjab. A letter confirming his appointment, now circulating online, was issued while he remains in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail.
Lawrence faces allegations in high-profile cases, including the murders of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and former NCP minister Baba Siddiqui. However, according to Ramesh Bishnoi, the National Vice President of the Bishnoi Sabha, Lawrence is actively promoting anti-drug initiatives and advocating for wildlife protection—values central to the Bishnoi community.
In the official appointment letter, Lawrence, originally from Dutarwali village in Punjab, is tasked with advancing the legacy of Mata Amrita Devi Bishnoi, who famously led a movement in 1730 where 363 Bishnois sacrificed their lives to protect the Khejri trees. The Sabha’s letter emphasizes Lawrence’s responsibility to promote wildlife and environmental protection in line with the principles of compassion established by Guru Jambheshwar Bhagwan, the founder of the Bishnoi community.
This nomination has drawn scrutiny from investigative agencies, who are now questioning the Sabha’s decision. Several Sabha officials have since fallen under the radar of these agencies, who are reviewing the implications of Lawrence’s new role in light of his ongoing criminal cases.
