Coldplay, Diljit Dosanjh fans battle ticket scams: ED raids 13 sites in 5 cities
Fans of Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh raised concerns over black-market ticket sales and counterfeit tickets, prompting the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to raid 13 locations across five cities. The raids, conducted in Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Bangalore, aimed to dismantle networks illegally profiting from ticket sales for Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati tour and Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour. The ED seized laptops and digital devices, aiming to trace those involved in these fraudulent operations.
The concerts’ official ticketing partners, BookMyShow and Zomato Live, reported tickets selling out quickly, which led to black marketers reselling tickets at inflated prices. The ED investigated these cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), focusing on tracking the flow of illegal earnings from this activity. The investigation revealed that scammers used platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram to lure fans into buying overpriced or fake tickets.
This crackdown comes as thousands of fans, frustrated by scams and inflated prices, voiced their anger. The ED’s operations mark a significant step toward protecting consumers from exploitation and ensuring fair access to popular concert tickets.
