President Droupadi Murmu will transfer ₹651.37 crore, the 9th installment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, to the bank accounts of 70 lakh women in Chhattisgarh today. This online event takes place at Purkhauti Muktangan in Nava Raipur from 5:15 PM to 6:30 PM. During the ceremony, two beneficiaries will share their personal experiences with the President.

The Chhattisgarh government launched the Mahtari Vandan scheme to promote women’s economic self-reliance and empowerment. It aims to strengthen their social and family status while combatting gender discrimination and inequality. Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced this initiative on March 10, 2024, and the state implemented it from March 1, 2024.

Under this scheme, the state government provides financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month to women over the age of 21. So far, the government has disbursed ₹5,227 crore in eight monthly installments through direct benefit transfer (DBT). This substantial support has directly impacted nearly 70 lakh women in Chhattisgarh.

Additionally, President Murmu will inaugurate the Surguja block built at Purkhauti Muktangan during the event. Governor Ramen Deka will present the first copies of books published by the Tribal Welfare Department to her. Furthermore, the President will engage with local tribal community members to discuss their issues and gather insights.

This initiative highlights the government’s commitment to empowering women and fostering economic growth in the region. By providing consistent financial support, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana plays a crucial role in uplifting women and improving their quality of life.

As the event unfolds, it symbolizes a significant step towards ensuring that women in Chhattisgarh receive the recognition and support they deserve. The Mahtari Vandan Yojana reflects the broader goal of promoting gender equality and enhancing the social fabric of the community. With this transfer, the initiative continues to pave the way for a brighter future for women in Chhattisgarh.
