Atishi likens Delhi Rohini bombing to Mumbai underworld; police probe pro-Khalistani link
A bomb blast rocked Rohini, Delhi, on Sunday morning, raising public safety concerns and igniting political tensions. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi quickly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, comparing the law and order situation in Delhi to Mumbai’s “underworld” era. The explosion damaged a section of a CRPF school wall and nearby vehicles, but fortunately, no one was injured. In response, authorities launched a multi-agency investigation to uncover the cause and those responsible.
Atishi took to Twitter, accusing the BJP’s Central government of failing to maintain law and order in Delhi. She expressed concerns that if the BJP gains control of the Delhi government, mismanagement would spread to other areas, including hospitals, power, and water supply. Using this incident as an example, she argued that the city’s safety has worsened under BJP’s watch.
In defense, BJP spokesperson Shazia Ilmi hit back, accusing Atishi and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of exploiting the bombing for political gain. Ilmi called Atishi a “puppet CM,” dismissing her remarks as an attempt to distract from the real issue. She emphasized that instead of politicizing a serious situation, efforts should focus on security and investigation.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police, supported by multiple security agencies, are probing a possible pro-Khalistani connection to the blast. Early reports suggest that the explosion could be linked to recent Indian crackdowns on separatist groups. Investigators are also examining a Telegram post by a group called “Justice League India,” which featured a video of the blast and a message saying, “Khalistan Zindabad.” The post threatened Indian authorities, heightening fears that extremist groups may be using this attack to send a warning.
As investigations continue, the incident underscores growing security challenges in Delhi. Transitional security lapses could lead to deeper issues, and both political leaders and law enforcement agencies now face the task of ensuring public safety while navigating the political fallout from the explosion.
