PM Modi Meets New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon during the ASEAN-India Summit in Vientiane, Lao PDR. This marked their first official interaction, setting the stage for stronger ties. They discussed enhancing cooperation in several key areas such as trade, defense, renewable energy, education, and Agri-tech.

The leaders highlighted the success of recent high-level visits, including the Indian President’s trip to New Zealand, which boosted bilateral momentum. Both noted the importance of people-to-people connections and welcomed New Zealand’s decision to join the International Solar Alliance, further solidifying their renewable energy partnership.

Modi and Luxon reaffirmed their shared goal of advancing cooperation on multilateral platforms. They also discussed the potential for collaboration in tourism, sports, and space. Modi extended an invitation to Luxon to visit India, and Luxon accepted, aiming for future discussions to strengthen relations even further.

With this meeting, both nations underscored their intent to elevate the India-New Zealand partnership to new heights. By reinforcing existing areas of collaboration and exploring new ones, the two Prime Ministers paved the way for deeper, long-term cooperation.
