Security forces in Manipur are intensifying efforts to combat drug smuggling and illegal poppy cultivation. As part of this ongoing drive, police have destroyed around 170 acres of poppy fields this year.

Today, Manipur Police announced that security forces eradicated 11 acres of poppy cultivation in Kuilong Part 2 and Kadi IV villages under Tamei police station in Tamenglong district. A case has been filed for further investigation.

This crackdown is part of a broader initiative to curb the production and distribution of drugs, as well as illegal weapons, in the region. Authorities are committed to continuing these efforts to reduce criminal activity tied to narcotics. With the destruction of these poppy fields, security forces are making significant progress in their fight against drug-related crimes.

Manipur has been grappling with issues of drug cultivation and trafficking, but security forces have ramped up operations to dismantle illegal operations. In addition to destroying poppy plantations, they are also focusing on cutting off supply chains and bringing those involved to justice.

This ongoing action demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing the region’s drug problem and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. The destruction of illegal crops sends a strong message to those involved in these activities that such practices will not be tolerated. Authorities plan to intensify operations further in the coming months to eliminate more drug-related threats.
