Prime Minister Modi to dedicate three Param Rudra supercomputers to the nation today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Pune, Maharashtra today. During his visit, he will dedicate three Param Rudra supercomputers, worth Rs 130 crore, developed under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM). This move aligns with his vision for a self-reliant India in supercomputing technology. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have shared these details on social media.
Pune’s Rs 20,900 crore Development Projects
At 6 PM, Modi will flag off the metro from District Court to Swargate in Pune. Half an hour later, he will inaugurate projects worth Rs 20,900 crore, including the completion of the Pune Metro Rail Project’s Phase-1. The underground metro section between District Court and Swargate, costing Rs 1,810 crore, will also be inaugurated. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for the Swargate-Katraj metro extension, a 5.46 km underground line worth Rs 2,950 crore. This extension includes stations at Market Yard, Padmavati, and Katraj. He will also lay the foundation stone for the first Balika Vidyalaya Smarak at Bhidewada in honor of Kranti Jyoti Savitribai Phule.
Supercomputers for Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata
Modi will dedicate three Param Rudra supercomputers deployed in Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata. Valued at Rs 130 crore, these supercomputers, developed under NSM, will support scientific research in these cities. Pune’s Giant Meter Radio Telescope will use the supercomputers for astronomical research, while the Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) in Delhi and the SN Bose Centre in Kolkata will enhance research in nuclear physics, cosmology, and other sciences.
Weather and Climate Research Systems
Modi will also unveil a high-performance computing (HPC) system for climate research, developed at a cost of Rs 850 crore. Deployed at IITM Pune and NCMRWF Noida, the system, named ‘Arka’ and ‘Arunika,’ will significantly improve India’s weather forecasting capabilities, particularly for cyclones, rainfall, and heatwaves.
Support for Truck Drivers and Energy Initiatives
In addition to infrastructure projects, the Prime Minister will launch amenities for truck drivers across five states. These amenities include rest facilities, clean toilets, and WiFi at 1,000 retail outlets, developed at a cost of Rs 2,170 crore. Modi will also launch multi-fuel energy stations, combining petrol, diesel, CNG, and EV charging. A total of 4,000 such stations will be established along major highways by 2029. Furthermore, he will dedicate 20 liquefied natural gas (LNG) stations across the nation, 1500 E20 fuel stations, and 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
Solapur Airport and Bidkin Industrial Area
Modi will inaugurate the Solapur Airport, set to serve over 4 lakh passengers annually. Lastly, he will dedicate the Bidkin Industrial Area, spread across 7,855 acres and developed as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, boosting industrial growth in Maharashtra’s Marathwada region.
