Gonda, June 4 (HS): Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will organise a massive show of strength in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda amid mounting concern over sexual harassment allegations made by female wrestlers. Brij Bhushan, President of the Wrestling Federation of India, is expected to address the public on June 11 at Gonda’s Colonelganj area to commemorate the conclusion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nine-year tenure.

According to sources, there will be a big rally to demonstrate his might and authority as support for wrestlers grows. Since April 23, prominent wrestlers like Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik have held rallies accusing Singh of sexual exploitation. Previously, he planned to organise a demonstration in Ayodhya on June 5, but the district administration ruled out permission for the event.

Singh later stated that the ‘Jan Chetna Maharally’ at Ram Katha Park had been postponed for a “few days” owing to the continuing police investigation into the wrestlers’ charges against him.

Singh said on Facebook, “My dear well wishers! I’ve been a Lok Sabha member for the last 28 years thanks to your support. I have attempted to bring people of all castes, communities, and religions together, whether in the ruling or opposition parties. For these reasons, my political opponents and their political parties have levied false accusations against me. At the moment, some political parties are attempting to disrupt social harmony by promoting provincialism, regionalism, and caste conflict through rallies in various locations,” Singh stated.
