Kerala Imam arrested by Police probing RSS activist SK Srinivasan’s murder
Palakkad, April 23(HS): Saddam Hussein, the Imam of Shankuvarathode Mosque in Palakkad district was arrested on Saturday morning by the police team probing the last week’s gruesome murder of RSS activist S K Srinivasan.
The police had picked up six extremists belonging to the Popular Front of India last night from various hideouts in the district. Two of the persons who were arrested late Friday night led the police to the Shankuvarathode Mosque from where Saddam Hussein too was picked up as part of the investigation.
Sources in the Police team told this news agency that the Imam provided all logistic help to the six-member gang that murdered Srinivasan. The phones and weapons used in the murder were stored and distributed from this controversial mosque.
C Krishnakumar, general secretary of the BJP who was the vice-chairman of Palakkadu Municipal Council told this agency that the Shankuvarathode Mosque was constructed illegally by the PFI activists on land encroached by them before 2017.
“Though the municipal body served notice to the mosque authorities for illegal occupation of government revenue land and unauthorised construction of the building, the activists managed to hoodwink the authorities, said Krishnakumar.
Most mosques in Kerala have been under use by Islamic terrorists for murdering rivals and storing weapons. The governments that ruled the state from time to time did not allow the authorities to go over to the rivals and enemies and arrest them.
The 2003 Maradu Murder that saw the butchering of eight Hindu fishermen at Maradu beach in the State had a nearby mosque that provided all logistic help to the professional murderers. It was the Muslim League MP E Ahmed who drove away from the cops that went to the mosque for arresting the culprits.
