Manipur CM to meet Modi today
Manipur, 18 April (H.S) : On his first visit to Delhi after taking charge for the second term as Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh is to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Monday.
After taking the oath, Singh that his government’s top priority would be to make Manipur corruption-free, and that he and his team would fight corruption day and night. The next task would be to clean up all drug-related matters in the state. The third task would be to bring all rebels operating in the state to the negotiating table and engage them in political discussions.
With effect from April 1, the union Home Ministry designated the entire state of Manipur as a Disturbed Area for a period of six months, excluding the regions under the jurisdiction of 15 police stations.
The BJP won an absolute majority with 32 seats in the 60-member House of Assembly, retaining power in Manipur. The BJP formed the previous government in the state with the help of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) and the National People’s Party (NPP), with Biren Singh as Chief Minister.
