Dreaded criminal Gauri Yadav killed in encounter
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct 30 (HS): Gauri Yadav, one of Uttar Pradesh’s most wanted criminals, was killed down in an encounter by the Special Task Force (STF) of UP Police early Saturday morning, according to STF additional director general (ADG) Amitabh Yash. The ADG said Yadav was shot dead at 4.30 a.m. in a jungle area near Mudhabund village in the Chitrakoot district’s Bahilpurwa police station.
He went on to say that the encounter broke out while Yadav and his gang were camping for the night. “In the violent gunfight, dacoit gang leader Gauri Yadav was killed, but some of his gang members escaped,” he said.
The STF seized one AK-47 assault rifle, an old model Kalashnikov semiautomatic rifle, and one twelve bore pistol (all factory built) at the encounter site, in addition to two country-made weapons and hundreds of live and spent ammo. He claimed Yadav had over 20 criminal charges of murder, extortion, and kidnapping filed against him in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. MP Police had also announced a Rs. 50,000 bounty for his arrest.
