People going for pilgrimage are stopped due to bad weather conditions

New Delhi, 17 October (H.S): Following the alert of the Meteorological Department, the police administration has temporarily stopped the Char Dham Yatra for two days. Under this, the pilgrims going from Gaurikund to Kedarnath Dham were stopped at Gaurikund or Sonprayag. The police is advising the pilgrims to stay where they are through sound extension devices.

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains on October 18 and 19 in Rudraprayag and other districts. The Meteorological Department has forecasted that there will be heavy rain at many places in these two days. Due to this the roads may be blocked.

District Magistrate Manuj Goyal said that he has got a clear instruction that the pilgrims should not be allowed to go on the pilgrimage to Kedarnath Dham. He said that the pilgrims going from Gaurikund to Kedarnath Dham are being stopped at Gaurikund or Sonprayag. Pilgrims going on foot from Gaurikund are being stopped at the same place till the weather clears. He said that the police administration has directed the pilgrims to stay there for the next two days wherever they are. As soon as the weather clears, the journey to Kedarnath Dham will be resumed permanently, Goyal said.
