Telangana Assembly Monsoon Session Postponed Over Cyclone Gulab and heavy rains
Hyderabad, 29 September (H.S): The Telangana Government has postponed the Monsoon sessions and declared holidays for three days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for the Assembly and Council owing to the heavy rains in the State. Chief Minister KCR took the stock of the situation from Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and stated that the departments like Revenue, Police, Fire Services, Municipal, Panchayati Raj, Irrigation, Roads, and Buildings should be on emergency duty to provide necessary help to the needy.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also declared a holiday for all the government offices and educational institutions in the state for day following the forecast of heavy rains in the next 48 hours.
Several districts of Telangana witnessed heavy rains last 24 hours and even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that the heavy rains are expected at isolated places in different districts of the state over the next 48 hours.The IMD, which issued a red alert for 14 districts in the state, warned that heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal (Rural), Warangal (Urban), Janagaon, Siddipet, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Kamareddy districts today.
Due to severe rains, Osmania University (OU) has postponed the semester examinations for various degree and engineering programmes scheduled for September 28 and September 29. The new timetable for the third and fourth-semester examinations will be released on the OU website soon
