Coimbatore, 19 August (H.S): A fake drama played out by the Dravida Kazhakam zealots and Maoists in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore district portraying the members of the Gaunder community as casteists and communalists have been demolished by the people themselves.

In an incident which literally shocked the State, the Dravida Kazhakam, Maoists and Evangelists promoted television channels and news portals had aired the visuals of an allegedly Dalit village assistant falling at the feet of a Gounder customer who had called on the village office at Annur in the district to inquire the fate of his plea for change of name in a property owned by him. Gopinath, the farmer had submitted all relevant documents and fee meant for the transfer of name in the title deed. But the village officer and the assistant , both belonging to Dravida Kazhakam, started wailing in public which drew hundreds of people to the office.

P Muthusamy, the village assistant, told the crowd that he was forced by Gopinath, the farmer, to fall at the latter’s feet and abused him by calling his caste name. V Kalaiselvi, a known DK activist who is the village administrative officer gave credence to the story by alleging that Gopinath had misbehaved with her. The incident sent shockwaves across the State and all human rights activists, evangelists and Islamist organisations came out in the open demanding immediate arrest of Gopinath for his ‘casteist behaviour’. A video portraying the alleged incident went viral in the social media. But the behaviour of Gopinath during the whole episode caused doubts in the minds of certain people who went after the incident and main players.

G K Nagaraj, BJP leader and a prominent community person from Tirupur led the probe team and they found to their shock that the entire incident was stage-managed by the DK-Maoists-Evangelists-Islamists to portray the Hindus in poor light. Muthusamy, who was seen in the video falling at the feet of Gopinath ‘seeking pardon and his life’ himself told the investigating team that he was acting as if he has been threatened by the hapless Gopinath. In a strange coincidence, a new video has surfaced in which Muthusamy, the VA, is seen assaulting Gopinath and later falling at his feet as the prodding of someone who had managed to film the proceedings.

“A close scrutiny of the video proved that it was the village assistant Muthusamy who physically assaulted Gopinath. The VA wanted to create an impression among the people that it was the other way round and played the role of victim. But that has been exposed by us,” Nagaraj told Hindustan Samachar late Wednesday evening.

According to Coimbatore district collector Sameeran, a probe has been ordered against the VAO and VA for furnishing false complaints against the farmer who has been found to be soft spoken, mild mannered and a respected citizen in the Annur region of Coimbatore.

The media that went berserk over the August 6 incident has been maintaining silence over the new twist that has happened in the story.
