5424 cases of black fungus reported in 18 states and UTs: Dr Harshvardhan

New Delhi, 24 May (HS): Amidst the corona epidemic in the country, the number of patients with mucarmycosis i.e. black fungus is also increasing. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said in a meeting of the 27th Group of Ministers on Monday. He said that 5,424 cases of black fungus have been reported in the country.

These cases have been reported from 18 states and union territories of the country. Of these, 4,556 patients are corona patients and 55 percent have diabetes. Gujarat has the highest number of patients with black fungus, 2,165, in Maharashtra it is 1188. At the same time, 663 cases have been registered in Uttar Pradesh, 519 in Madhya Pradesh, 339 in Haryana, 248 in Andhra Pradesh.
