7500 hotspot clusters in Prayagraj and counting
PRAYAGRAJ, April 20 (HS): Officials from the city’s health department and district administration are working to find new hotspot clusters after the city reported over 11,000 Covid cases in just five days. There are currently over 7,500 hotspot clusters in the city. Dr. Rishi Sahai, the city’s additional chief medical officer and Nodal Officer, said, “The city currently has over 7,500 hotspot clusters.” Until last week, health department officials classified each home as a hotspot containment region, but now we’ve organised hotspot clusters (houses coming under 25 metre radius as single cluster).
“It will assist health and district authorities in keeping a close eye on hotspot clusters and taking appropriate corrective steps in terms of identifying and treating new Covid cases in a specific area,” he said. The number of cases in the city has been soaring, with 11,303 Covid positive cases registered in the last five days. In addition, 2,416 Covid cases were discovered on Sunday. In addition, 2436, 2236, 2324, and 1891 cases were registered on April 17, 16, 15, and 14 respectively.
To stop the spread of disease, officials from the Department of Health and the District Administration are tracking all 7500 hotspot clusters, with 69 percent of them in urban areas. The eight city neighbourhoods with the most hot spots clusters are Hashimpur lane, Preetam nagar, Lukerganj, Jhoolelal Nagar, Malaqraj, Madhwapur, Mumfordganj, and Katra. Meanwhile, according to Sahai, the department has collected 54,429 samples in the last five days, including 9120 (April 18), 11567 (April 17), 11969 (April 16), 10960 (April 15), and 10813 (April 14), of which 11,303 were found to be positive for Covid-19 infection.
To stop the virus from spreading, we’ve increased the collection of samples in established hotspot clusters, according to Sahai. Over 120 health teams will be deployed throughout the district to test, track, and treat Covid patients, according to the health department. Over 80 health teams are currently working to gather samples, monitor patients, and treat them.
