Oldest bridge in Devika damaged

UDHAMPUR, April 12 (HS):The oldest bridge in Devika Udhampur is suffered a damaged and likely to be collapsed.

Anil Paba a social activist from Udhampur asked the district administration to immediate repair the bridge which is the only source of people to reach the cremation Ghat at Devika Udhampur.

Paba said the bridge was already loose its strength for the last so many years and the administration turned a deaf ear to the knowing facts and besides demands from a public at large.

He said that during cremation ceremony large numbers of people stands and gathered their at the bridge.

Paba further added that after the Devika River comes under National River Conservation Plan (NRCP), the heavy machinery and heavy vehicles plied from the bridge and due to this the bridge is almost under threat and at the verge of collapse.

Paba appealed to the administration and concerned authorities to immediately repair the damage bridge before any big happening.
