On Fools’ Day, Cong puts up controversial poster of PM Modi
PRAYAGRAJ, April 2 (HS): Workers of City Congress Committee led by Congress leader Irshad Ullah on Thursday put up a poster at Mohammad Ali Park, Atala with a controversial remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking for April 1 (All Fools’ Day) to be declared Modi Day.
The poster also took a jibe at the Prime Minister for assuring the people – during his Lok Sabha election rallies – to bring back country’s black money from foreign banks and depositing Rs 15 lakh each in the accounts of citizens once he came to power.
“Declare April 1 as Modi Day,” reads the poster which has photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Irshad Ullah, identified as city congress committee general secretary and UP leaders from the city, also figure on the poster.
Irshad Ullah while speaking to HS said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been befooling countrymen since his government came to power.” He called Modi the biggest liar of the country who had made false promises to countrymen for power. He said Modi should be conferred with ‘Maha Moorkh Ratan’ for befooling the countrymen.
Interestingly, the controversial poster does not have names of any senior Congress leader. Senior Congress leaders in the city downplayed the issue. “We have no idea about the poster but Congress leaders and volunteers should concentrate on strengthening the party at grassroots level and stop mud slinging on rivals,” said a senior congress leader and AICC member preferring anonymity. On the contrary, a BJP leader said, “Congress leaders have no right to ask questions over corruption…people of the country know what happened during the 10 year regime of the UPA government and in the past, right from Bofors scandal to Hawala scandal in Narsimha Rao government.”
