Induction of New Weapons in Armed Forces is a continous process: Shripad Naik
New Delhi, 24 March (HS): The induction of new aircraft, weapons etc. into the Armed Forces is a continuous process, said Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.
He said the Government is committed to boost “Atmanirbhar Bharat” scheme by inducting LCH and LUH helicopters in Armed Forces.
So far, till February 2021, the Government has issued 523 Industrial licenses for manufacturing of various items in Defence sector.
He further said that in Indian Army, Cheetal Helicopters, Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) Mark 0/I/II/III, ALH (Weapon System Integrated [WSI]), 20 mm Turret Gun – Integrated with ALH (WSI) platform and 70 mm Turret Gun – Integrated with ALH (WSI) platform have been inducted.
Similarly, In Indian Navy, Dornier 228 aircraft, Advance Light Helicopters (ALH MK III), Chetak Helicopters and P81 aircrafts have been inducted.
In Indian Air Force, Rafale aircraft, Light Combat Aircraft, C-17 and C-130 transport aircraft and Chinook and Apache Helicopters have been inducted, the Minister informed.
