Holi vacation in schools till March 31
PRAYAGRAJ, March 23 (HS): In a surprising move, the UP government has ordered closure of all schools between class 1 and 8 from March 24 to 31 for Holi vacation. The notification issued by the state government for Holi vacation is in stark contrast with their earlier position. Earlier, an order passed by director-general of school education (DGSE), Vijay Kiran Anand stated that: Annual examinations are scheduled to be held on March 25 and 26 for all the 1.8 crore students of classes 1 to 8 in government-run primary and upper primary schools. The evaluation process will be conducted on March 27, 28, and 29. The final results will be declared on March 31.
The teachers were unhappy because the department has issued examination notifications in a short period of time, and evaluation work clashed with the Holi holidays.
However, in a sudden turn of events, all examinations of class 1 to 8 scheduled between March 24 and 31, therefore, have been postponed. Basic education minister Satish Dwivedi, while speaking to HS said, “All examinations of class 1 to 8 stand cancelled till further notice. Post March 31, depending upon the situation, we will decide whether to promote all students or extend the academic session and hold examinations in state government-run institutions.” According to sources, the recent surge in Covid-19 positive cases has forced the government to take a u-turn and order postponement of examination for all the 1.8 crore students of classes 1 to 8 in government-run primary and upper primary schools.
