19 terrorists killed this year: IG Kashmir

Jammu, March 22: Security Forces have killed four Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday. According to the reports, the encounter broke out in the midnight at the Manihal area of Shopian after specific inputs about the presence of terrorists was received.
Accordingly, a joint operation of J&K Police, the Army and the CRPF was carried out. The deceased have been identified as Rayas Ahemd Bhat, Amir Shafi Mir, Yakib Ahmed Malik and Aftab Ahmed Wani, who were affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, a terror outfit.
Addressing a press conference, IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said “All four terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed in the joint operation carried out in Shopian. One AK-47 rifle and three pistols were seized from the slain terrorist and an army man was also injured in the gun fight. Security forces have initiated a combing operation after the encounter. In all nine encounters were carried out this year in which in all 19 terrorists including two top commanders and some newly joined youth retuned back to mainstream, were neutralised. IG, Kashmir said Pakistan is continuously trying to disturb situation here and also trying every possible effort to radicalize youth through social media.
