NGO gives big salute to the spirit of science
Tamil Nadu: Chennai: March 12 (HS):Sevalaya, Chennai based NGO into serving the underprivileged children and elderly persons celebrated Science Day.
Motive behind the celebration is to inculcate scientific temper in students.
Captain R. Venkatesh, CEO of DP World was the chief guest for the celebrations that took place yesterday on Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharatiyar School at Kasuva village in Thiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu.
Chief guest visited the Dr APJ Abudul Kalam Science Center located at the school premises.
He said that village students are getting more opportunities than to many city students at this science center.
Students can learn more through hands on activities in labs in such science centers, said Captain Venkatesh.
He also said he will speak about the sciene center at Sevalaya to other city schools and motivate them to visit this center.
He advised the students to imbibe value education given by Sevalaya in their lives and reach the pinnacle of glory.
HR official of DP World Nithya Chandrasekar said she hoped the students would make best use of the opportunities provided by Sevalaya.
Earlier competitions like quiz, drawing competition, and innovations were held online.
About 270 judged from Chennai, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Kancheepuram, Papanasam and
Puducherry.
About 28 students received prizes in different categories. Others were given e-certificate.
E Manigandan, student of Standard XII who had used old products from his house and created an automatic sanitizer machine got a prize for his innovation.
Sevalaya staff celebrating their birthday this month were given gifts (books) while alumni received
sponsorship cheques from Help Foundation to continue their higher education.
