JK women Police celebrate International Women’s Day
Jammu, March 8 (HS): Jammu Kashmir Police’s Women Battalion (IRP-15th) today celebrated International Women’s Day at the Battalion Headquarters, Gulshan Ground, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The day long celebrations included lectures by various academicians, medicos & psychologists highlighting the importance of International Women’s Day, presentation of a colorful cultural programme, medical camp and various stalls for shopping. The programme started with welcome address by Madhu Bandral, Dy. Commandant followed by a lecture of Dr. Neeru Gupta of Police Hospital Jammu who spoke at length on various health and hygiene issues of women. She emphasized that women are mostly anaemic and lack proper intake of calcium and vitamins. She stressed on the importance of regular medical checkups, proper diet to remain fit. Dr. Manisha Swaroop Kohli, Associate Professor Govt. College for Boys, Udhampur delivered a thought provoking lecture on the topic “Make Thyself Happy”. She left the audience spellbound with the practical tips to face adversities in life and to take all the challenges head-on. Commandant IR-15th Battalion, Mubassir Latifi welcomed the Chief Guest and other invitees. He congratulated the lady officers & officials of the Battalion for setting an example of professional Policing and lauded their untiring efforts in maintaining Law & Order in the UT of J&K. He stressed upon the importance of breaking the stereotypes and creating awareness not only about gender equality but also asserted that women are far better than men in handling various personal and professional crises. He emphasized that women need to take pride in their job and should celebrate their womanhood and achievements in life. He further highlighted that the women officials of the Battalion are extremely dedicated towards their duties and during the COVID pandemic they proved their mettle by performing different kinds of duties and exhibited courage and confidence by overcoming all odds. Danesh Rana while speaking on the occasion said that the contribution of women can’t be celebrated and confined to one day only as they not only manage their family life well but have also excelled in various professional fields. He said that number of women have made a mark in the field of education, technology, administration, politics and sports and have proved inspiration for millions of other girls to achieve big in life.
